OK that worked!

The mast now has significant bend in it but after a race weekend in Canada it held fine.  Should be good enough until ordering of a new mast can be done.  The shortening is about 2" and impacted vang and fore-stay halyard tensioning.  The 2x purchase cable was replaced with dynema and set to a length allowing full tensioning.  Adam Semple from Perth Australia helped tune the boat up.  Probably the best it has ever been except for mast defect.

Off to Salt Spring Island Canada to the town of Ganges.  Two hours to the border, three hours on the ferry. A great group of sailing enthusiast and visitors from Australia and Hong Kong made for a three day regatta.  A very smoothly run race.
