Trailer is essentially done.  Minor fixes but onto boat again for internal paint, keel mount, deck paint.

Trailer being certified at weigh station prior to inspections.

Taped and masked hull then sprayed waterline with Rustoleum 2x Brilliant Blue.  Trailer coming together but need to cut off some parts and re-weld due to misplacement.

Painted frame with Ace Rust Stop and primer and waiting for cure.  Will install axles, wheels, lights, jack, winch, etc. and take it down town for inspection, weighing.  I re-leveled the hull to the baseline then leveled it transverse as well.  With a laser marked off waterline at 381mm above baseline (+/-) then 401mm above baseline.  Marked with pen and taped off.  Need to figure what paint to go with for waterline and deck stripe.

This is really easy to do!
 Weld checking.

Welding work finished.  Prime and paint prep next.  Building up fenders from aluminum sheet and adding necessary fasteners etc.

 Steps above wheels
Bow guide install.  Winch to be on upper bar.

Dropped the guide down a bit from 24-20 inches to put boat more level...I think.

Various mast support frame pieces.

Two coats of paint applied, all went quite well.  Really happy with finish!!  Used Valspar LIC 40, a 2 part linear polyurethane with 4:1 ratio mix to hardener.  About 26 oz. covers entire hull.  Recommend doing several small batches and working when boat surface is cool and dry.  We started with a cool morning with rising temperature.  Scattered light with a clouded sky put enough insolation on hull surface to warm up so curtain was in place during work.  This paint when it hits warms surfaces can be shocked to catalyze much faster and impacting the roll/tip painting ease.  Sanded all over with orbital and final at 120.  Cleaned with lacquer thinner.  After one day dry re-sanded lightly to take off bumps and bugs etc.  Roll paint in 3ft^2 area then brush with fine hair brush.  Amazing.   Cleaning off spinnaker chute from chicken drops.

Too much rain today to paint the hull so onward with trailer frame.  Applied some primer although there is still welding to finish.  Hoping for some sun tomorrow.

Light and plates mounting.

Progress with the trailer which will be needed in the near future.  The main axle weldment will allow for forward/backward adjustment and the attached keel support plate slides along its lap then bolted down as needed.  We might add supports along the hull adjacent to the keel.

OK...I had nothing to do with the 'Flying Mint Bunny' in the video bar.   Don't watch unless you are pint in.

The boat is flipped and getting prepped for some paint.
The sails and mast are floating out in the Pacific headed this way and the trailer is up next. Sand...sand...sand...not to perfection but good enough to paint Saturday...

Chapter 2:  here is a wrap up since last May till now of hull internal work.

Cutting up steel for welding next week.
Keel bolt holes ready.

As mentioned way back when the keel arrived from California a 1/2" twist in the keel profile with respect to the flange was discovered.  I averaged the error between the flange and the center-line of the profile.  The flange as well is flat whereas the keelson profile is not.  That was missed in the casting plug.  The holes were transferred from the keel to the hull and after the hull is finished the keel will be installed and the gap filled with epoxy.

The hull has been flipped with a little pain.  Moving on with prepping surface for paint, drilling keel holes.

Modified the base to simplify alignment and fitting of keel.  The mismatched keelson and keel flange surfaces are going to be a challenge to mate.  This could be an epoxy gap fill job.

Here a final coat of epoxy has been applied.   The keel installation (hole marking and cutting) and bottom preparation follows.  Then bottom painting and back upright to finish top, mount keel and drop onto trailer.

Moved base and setting upgantry to lift hull.  I hope to modify the base to allow the keel underneath for alignment but to also remain as back up support.  Here is the boat launch, trailer and metal for the trailer.
